WEEKLY REFLECTION

SEMESTER III

Week 1
28/06/2016 – 04/01/2016
‘There is always a first time for every ling’, as the proverb says, it the first time in my life that I go to school to teach. The atmosphere of the school was friendly. The class assigned to me was VIII C, which consist of sixty four students. It was really a challenge to me. All the teachers said that it is very difficult to manage the students in the ‘C’ Division. The students are all hyper active.

Week 2
05/07/2016 – 12/07/2016
My colleagues are finishing the potions assigned to them. But I could not, because of the over strength of the class. From those sixty four students only three or four students are interested to learn. No teacher in that school could manage the students for they are vigorous in nature, both boy, and girls.

Week 3
13/07/2016 – 19/07/2016
I could largely manage the class and the worst thing is that I could not complete my portions. My colleagues already completed one lesson, but I could not even read the text for the class is so noisy. So, I decided to play a trick, to adopt a strategy to make them obedient. I told them that those who keep obedient for several days will be leaders and their may be three or four leaders. Then after a certain period I selected another four children as leaders.
Week 4
20/07/2016 – 26/07/2016
Thanks God, the trick played well and I could manage the class as well. The students seated very obediently. On the third day of their week I selected four students as leaders, who remained most obedient. I could take my portions in a good manner. I could complete ‘The mysterious picture’ only in the four week. In this week Ambily Miss our option teacher, to observe the class and she mentioned the things to be taken care of.

Week 5
27/07/2016 – 03/08/2016
Again I thank God; the teacher of VIII C says that it is only in the English period that the public remain silent. In the other periods their noise cause disturbance in the adjoining classes. In week I dealt with and completed ‘The Boy Who Drew Cats’. I did not target to change the leaders.

Week 6
04/08/2016 – 10/08/2016
I noticed one thing that during ICT classes the pupils get enthusiastic and show much interest in learning. During this week I dealt with and completed two poems that are, ‘Marvellous Travel’ and ‘From a Railway Carriage? Students show much interest to the poem ‘From a Railway Carriage? In this week Shameema Miss came to observe the class and she corrected my mistakes.

Week 7
11/08/2016 – 18/08/2016
Because of the over strength of the class I had to use lord noise, which cause my throat pain. But, anyhow I managed to speak and lecture in the class. I changed the leaders. In this week I dealt with a long lesson, ‘A shipwrecked sailor’. For its lengthiness public were somewhat bored in this week. I tried my best to make them interesting.

Week 8
19/08/2016 – 26/08/2016
This is the last week and I completed ‘The Little Round Red House’. I conducted a test based on these chapters. I think, I get a best experience with that students, I could explore several strategies to manage such students

DIGITAL TEXT

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
OF THE TEACHING ENGLISH

Aim is the ultimate end. It can be achieved ultimately after achieving several small steps. These steps are known as objectives. Aims are long term ends. Objectives are short term ends. The airms of treaching  English in India are the following.
·        To understand spoken English: The students should be able to comprehend English when spoken. They are to be enabled to understand English conversations, news, movies etc.
·        To speak English fluently and accurately: The students should he enabled to speak English fluently and accurely with proper accent and rhythm.
·        To read English properly: The students should be enabled to read English with characteristic English rhythm and to read silently with good comprehension.
·        To write English neatly and legibly : The students should be enabled to write English neatly and legibly. The ability to express one’s thoughts and ideas in writing developed in them.

 Objective
Objective is defined as the end towards which a cschool sponsored activity is directed. It is the desire outcome at which instruction is timed. The desired outcome can be perceived at the end of a particular instruction or at every stage of it. Hence, objective is broadly classified into two, i.e. product objective and process objective.

Product Objective
Product objective is the desired final outcome. It is the end product. Here the final attained is the matter worth nothing. How the learner reaches that level is not considered important.
Example: The learner writes a poem.
Process Objective
Process means a series of actions performed in order to do, make or achieve something. Process Objective is the desired activities the learner has to do before reaching the final outcome. It is the procedure used to yield the required outcome. A process objective elucidates the experience a learner undergoes in a learning situation.
Learning takes place as result of successful completion of a number of activities ordered sequently. This chain of activities plays vital roles in ensuring progressive changes in pupils’ behavior. If the learners attain the process objective one by one, he is almost sure to produce the desired final result. If we focus only on product objective, the learners may not reach that level timely and fruitfully. So the process objectives are given more prominence today.
The learners get more exposure to the target language when they actively involve in the process. They get more chance to develop their skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. In second language learning, process objective is better to be stressed.
Example: If the product objective is “The pupil writes a letter” the process objectives can be the following.
·        Pupils become familiar with different letters.
·        Pupils identify the position of different aspects of the letter.
·        Pupils discuss the features of a good letter
·        Pupils become aware of the forms of good letter.
·        Pupils receive topics for writing letters.
·        Each group discusses and shares ideas.
·        Teacher facilitates and monitors their performance.
·        Each group prepares letters.
·        All the letters are orally presented.
·        Pupils write letters independently.
Objectives of Teaching English
·        To enable the learner to understand English when spoken at a reasonable speed.
·        To enable the learner to speak English with accurate pronunciation.
·        To enable the learner to read English with good stress, rhythm and intonation.
·        To enable the learner to write English silently at a reasonable speed with good comprehension.
·        To enable the learner to write English neatly and legibly.
·        To enable the learner to draft simple letters, prepare reports, fill in forms and compose poems.
·        To nurture the creativity of the learners.
·        To develop pupils’ imagination
·        To enable learners to interpret events and situations.
·        To help learners realize their identity
·        To equip learners for free and effective expression.
·        To develop a taste for English literature.
